(n)Ever (re)Productive: A U.S. Perspective on Gender, Work and the Life Course
Date and Time: 14 May 2013 at 1 pm
Venue: SAC room – CA110, Cairnes Building, National University of Galway
On the 13th and 14th May, 2013, a meeting of the Irish Research Council-funded
International Research Network on the Gender Analysis of Employment, Retirement and
Pensions for Older Workers will take place at the National University of Ireland, Galway. This workshop meeting will be chaired by Dr. Áine Ní Léime of the Irish Centre for Social Gerontology at the National University of Ireland, Galway, who was awarded a New Foundations grant to develop the network. Dr Nata Duvvury of Global Women’s Studies will also chair portions of the meeting. Scholars from Sweden, the U.S.A., the UK, Portugal, Switzerland, Austria and Ireland will meet to share research findings and advance methodological and theoretical learning. One of the aims of the network is to develop a joint transnational research programme(s) in the area of gender and employment across the lifecourse; the workshop builds on two previous tele-conferences and will allow participants to identify common themes of interest and appropriate methodologies for proposed future research.
The workshop will culminate with a public lecture to be given by Professor
Debra Street of the University of Buffalo, New York.
Funding for the event is provided by the Irish Research Council New Foundations Award
and by the Irish Centre for Social Gerontology.
